The 22-year-old actor sat down with the mag during a recent trip to Boston to chat about learning Mission: Impossible moves from Tom Cruise, his run-in with poison oak and the real reason why he doesn’t date around. Check it:
On not dating around Hollywood: “I think a lot of guys would enjoy that. But I’m not really like that. Believe me, I rack my brain thinking ‘Why am I not out there playing the field?’ One of my buddies was like, ‘You have no idea what’s going on right now. You’re peaking on Ecstasy and you’re watching TV.’ But it’s not in my heart. It’s exactly how it should be. It’s real.”
On learning to ride from Tom Cruise: “I don’t even want to know [why he offered to teach me]. It’s just so cool that he gave a sh*t, the fact that he cared at all. No one else did that.”
On contracting poison oak right before his interview: “Dude, it’s like everywhere. Everywhere. I can’t even begin to show you, ‘cause you’ll get so grossed out. I look like
a zombie from Dawn of the Dead.”
Last night, Zac Efron presented a surfboard to Sandra Bullock for Choice Movie Actress for a Drama.
The 22-year-old actor then rushed to the Hollywood Bowl to once again support his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens as she played Mimi, a junkie stripper, during another performance of the hit musical Rent.
During the musical number “Out Tonight”, Zac got up from his seat and tipped Vanessa a few bucks during her sultry dance. How much did the big boy tip his leading lady?

Zac Efron doesn’t have an entourage because he likes his “alone time”. The 22-year-old actor is one of the biggest young stars in Hollywood. He became an overnight sensation when he starred in Disney’s “High School Musical” film franchise and has since taken on a host of more serious roles.
Zac is followed everywhere he goes by hordes of screaming fans and has millions in the bank, but still refuses to hire a large team of assistants, housekeepers and security guards because he doesn’t like the idea of having people around at all times.
“I don’t have any major butlers or anything at home; it’s just me. I don’t have any security guards following me around either – I like my alone time,” he told the British edition of OK! magazine.
Zac is starring in emotional drama “Charlie St Cloud.” He has yet to choose his next project, and admits he is finding selecting movies extremely challenging.
“There was always an ultimate goal to focus on but now there’s no clearly-defined goal,” he explained. “I’m sort of trying to figure it out on my own so I’m having to think for myself a lot more and that’s much more of a challenge than I even anticipated it would be.”

Zac Efron has reportedly said that Vanessa Hudgens helped calm his nerves before a recent premiere. The 22-year-old actor walked the red carpet with Hudgens at a screening of “Charlie St. Cloud” in Los Angeles last month.
Speaking to Us Weekly at the event, he said: “She pumped me up in the car. I was a little nervous so she makes me a little less nervous. It means a lot.”
Efron and Hudgens have been dating since they met on the set of Disney’s “High School Musical.” He recently dismissed reports that the couple are planning to wed, suggesting that he might not tie the knot until he is 30. “Charlie St. Cloud” is in US cinemas now.

Zac admits he once considered other job options, and says anything involving video games or comic books would have been alright by him.
“Of course everybody wants to test video games for a living,” he laughed. “I love drawing, so it would’ve been fun to draw comic books, but once I found entertaining, I just knew that I wanted to gear my life towards that. At one point I wanted to be a doctor to help people too.”
Zac still has a desire to aid others, but thinks he can do so through his movies. The hunk is regularly approached by fans who say his films have changed their lives, and says he loves hearing from them.
“Movies can help people. High School Musical fans often come up to me in tears saying the movie gave them the confidence to go out and do things they always wanted to do,” he said.

Zac Efron may be talking to ghosts in his new movie ‘Charlie St. Cloud,’ but he admits he doesn’t handle scary too well. The actor has terrifying memories of a childhood visit to a haunted house – he was attacked by a colony of bats.
He and some friends decided to get their adrenaline pumping by visiting a property close to his California home that was rumored to be haunted, “When I was growing up, the house next door was haunted, nobody would go inside. It had these broken boards and there were all kinds of weird stories about what happened there.”
But when the boys sneaked through the run-down house, they were chased away by a frightening encounter with some winged mammals, “One time me and my friends went in but it was really weird, like something from Alice in Wonderland. We had to hike through a field of really tall grass to get to the front porch. There was a smashed window in the back, so we went inside and looked around. We went up to the attic and heard a bunch of noises. We were like: ‘What is that?’ Then all of a sudden bats just flew out at us – we were scared s**tless and ran away. I’m pretty sure that place is haunted.”

Zac Efron looks a little worried as he gets stuck in an elevator full of girls in this new PSA for Stand Up 2 Cancer.
Zac is joined by young stars like Logan Lerman, Dakota Fanning, Vanessa Hudgens, Zachary Levi, Naya Rivera, Kristen Bell, Andrew Garfield and more for the “Change the Odds” PSA for cancer research. The PSA is to raise awareness and change the odds of getting cancer in our lifetimes.
The PSA was co-directed by Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer) and Rich Lee. It will be featured on the upcoming SU2C broadcast event on September 10th.
