Last April, Zac Efron seemed really into the idea of being involved with “Hairspray 2.” But it seems now those dreams of seeing Zac and his famous wink in a sequel are dead in the water. Zac confirmed to MTV News at the MTV Movie Awards over the weekend, that “Hairspray 2″ is no longer happening.
“You know I hadn’t really heard it was happening, if it ever was happening,” he shared. “I’m pretty sure that’s the way it was supposed to be.”
Well, there had been some talk of scripts and story ideas last year, but it seems it was nothing more than talk, even if Zac shared last spring that he had seen a little bit of what the flick might be about, with one rumored plot revolving around his character, Link Larkin, taking acid.
“I think I’ve heard a rough outline, and it sounds hilarious. It sounds like it’s going to be awesome,” he said last year. “That could be a deep conversation. I’ve had so many deep conversations with my own zits. They are some of the smartest people I know.”
The fact that “Hairspray 2″ is no no longer in the works gives Zac a little bit more time to tackle and promote other projects, including his next release, “Charlie St. Cloud,” out later this summer. “I’m not doing anything to drastically try and change up my image,” he added about his future roles. “But I do need to keep things interesting for myself. And grow up.”

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens have been dating for quite some time, but it now appears that the two have been in some sort of competition. Hollywood has apparently decided that Efron’s career and talents are more viable than those of his girlfriend, Hudgens. A few months ago, the remake of “Beauty and the Beast,” was slated for an end of July release date. Zac, who was working on his own movie at the time titled “Charlie St. Cloud,” was scheduled for a mid October premiere. Towards the end of April, the studio reportedly realized that the movie would be able to make a great deal more money while the kids were out of school and on summer vacation. Efron’s movie was bumped into the same day that Hudgen’s movie was originally supposed to premier.
Then, Hudgen’s film which was set to be released on the same day as her boyfriends movie suffered a major change. The “Beauty and the Beast” remake will no longer be released on the same day as her boyfriend but has been pushed for 2011. While the moving up of Efron’s flick isn’t exactly groundbreaking and does make a lot of sense for the movie, it is surprising that they have not planned to move his girlfriend’s film back. It seems awkward, considering that both of them have a lot of the same fans from their “High School Musical” days, and will likely be competing with each other at the box office this upcoming summer. Here is hoping that it doesn’t end up getting in the way of their relationship.
The couple Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are moving in his love affair and this time as the media would love and sharing the same house as the test for when they marry.As you know, Vanessa Hudgens accidentally let the water run at his home in Studio City, California, two months ago, making it a disaster that cost her $ 250,000 in damages.While repairs are underway, Vanessa Hudgens has been renting a beach house north of Malibu. Zac Efron loved the place and decided to go to live with her.
As networking events go, it was as star-studded as they get.
At the LA Lakers game last night the big names in the front row threatened to outshine those playing on the court.
Football legend David Beckham joined teenage heartthrobs Zac Efron and Joe Jonas, Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and actors Dustin Hoffman and David Duchovny.
Beckham seemed thrilled to meet Efron – perhaps recoginsing him from watching the High School Musical trilogy with his three young sons.
Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens put on their best smiles as they stop to chat with Access Hollywood at the Get Him To The Greek premiere earlier this week.
When asked if the duo would ever consider working on another project together, Vanessa, 21, chimed in first, “Of course. But the project has to be perfect.”

Its just been announced that Zac is being honored with the “Shining Star Award” at the Maui Film Festival, reports Mark Malkin with E! Online. He will be receiving the award during opening night festivities on June 16th at the Celestial Cinema. Previous winners of this award include Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel.

It was a mini High School Musical reunion at Nylon’s May Young Hollywood Event at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood on Wednesday night (May 12).

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens took off running yesterday on their way to play at the beach in LA. Zac sadly didn’t go shirtless for their foray into the water, and Vanessa kept her pants and tank on instead of breaking out her bikini. Nonetheless, the duo headed into the ocean, where Vanessa spread her arms to enjoy the breeze.

SHIA LaBeouf hates it when he’s compared to fellow Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron — because, he insists, he’s nothing like the hunky High School Musical star.
The 23-year-old actor — who stars alongside Michael Douglas in new movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps — admits he has a “dark side” and that he could never be perceived as squeaky-clean like some of his Hollywood peers.
“I’ve never been like Zac Efron,” he said. “I am a bit of an a**hole. I have a dark side. I’m a bit of a ruffian.”
“I’ve never tried to be anything else. I was never educated properly because I got kicked out of every school.”
Shia then revealed he became an actor because of the money. “Initially, it was all money driven,” he said.
“I didn’t give a s**t about arts. We were as broke as balls, so I just wanted to move my family into better digs.”
Shia — who’s currently dating his Money Never Sleeps costar Carey Mulligan — recently admitted he has never wanted to romance an actress.
“I’ve said this before, women are a vice to me,” he said. “But that was a different time in my life. I have a problem trusting people and I never wanted to date an actress, but you can’t plan for this.”
“It smacks you in the face, and everything I thought I knew, I didn’t know, so I’m just learning again. It’s great, it’s amazing. I was really lonely before, a really dark dude. I still am, but I’m better. I think love is my favourite hobby, for sure.
“I fall in love easily, but there’s a difference between being in love and being in a loving relationship. ‘In love’ is infatuation. ‘Love’ is when that love dies down and you’re just there. The burning volcano stops erupting, the lava gets cold. And I’m close to that for sure.”
Paying the price for his roadway misdoings, Zac Efron was spotted dealing with the law while out in West Hollywood on Wednesday (April 7).
The “17 Again” stud got pulled over by local police, after which he was dealt a ticket for making an illegal left turn at a red light in front of Fred Segal.
Calmly accepting the officer’s punishment, Efron chatted with the policeman before cruising away in his fancy black sports car.
The ticket comes the day after Zac spent the evening alongside girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens at Nokia Club LA Live for the 2010 Inaugural St. Jude Children’s Hospital’s “Estrellas Por La Vida” Gala.
The “High School Musical” co-star couple took the podium to dish out an award to “High School Musical” director Kenny Ortega for his charitable endeavours.

Courteney Cox wants Zac Efron to star on her TV show “Cougar Town.” The actress, 45, is currently playing the role of a divorced mum in her 40s on the lookout for a younger man in the hit program – and she thinks the “High School Musical hunk” is the perfect prey for older women.
“Zac Efron would be perfect, but he probably has too much confidence to be real prey for a cougar,” said Cox, whose real-life hubby David Arquette is seven years her junior. “You know you’re a cougar when you’re attracted to your son’s friends.”
Zac Efron said “no thanks” to drinks offered to him March 13 at Los Angeles hotspot Crown Bar, where his good friend Brittany Snow was celebrating her 24th birthday, an eyewitness tells HollywoodLife.com. Though plenty of alcohol was offered to him, Zac told pals he wasn’t drinking because he had just bought a brand new Audi and never drank and drove. Good for you, Zac! More people should follow your example.
Also spotted at Brittany’s party were Vanessa Hudgens, Kellan Lutz, Seth MacFarlane, and cute couple Jessica Stroup and Dustin Milligan. Everybody sang “Happy Birthday” to Brittany, and it sounds like it was just a really fun night out.
